Rockers Bon Jovi are being sued for a whopping $400 billion after an American musician filed a lawsuit accusing the band of plagiarism.

In court documents filed on Thursday, Massachusetts-based musician Samuel Bartley Steele alleges the group of copied lyrics from his 2004 song "(Man I Really) Love This Team" - used as the anthem for his hometown's baseball team, The Red Sox.

Steele alleges the group's frontman Jon Bon Jovi heard the song while campaigning for Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry in 2004, and used its lyrics to create his hit song "I Love This Town" - which was later used as a promotional track for Major League Baseball.

Steele calls the rocker's composition an "unauthorized derivative version" of his song in the federal suit.

In court documents reportedly obtained by the website, Steele adds, "As intent will be easy to prove, we are seeking the statutorily authorized amount of $100,000 per CD sold. Just under 4 million CDs have been sold to date. This totals almost $400 billion."

$400 billion?!?!?!?!?!?

BON JOVI's bass player Hugh McDonald filled in for Bobby Dall at last night's (Tuesday, August 25) POISON concert at USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Utah after Dall reportedly became too ill to perform. According to the Deseret News, McDonald stepped up to the plate just 20 minutes before POISON was scheduled to go on stage. Rather than cancel their set, singer Bret Michaels said McDonald volunteered his services and took a crash course in learning several POISON songs.

The group's shortened setlist included favorites like "Fallen Angel", "Ride The Wind", "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nothin' But A Good Time", but was missing "Talk Dirty To Me", the 1987 single which became POISON's first big hit song.

"There was no way we're ever canceling Salt Lake City," Michaels told the crowd with roaring approval, according to the Deseret News.

Rock band Bon Jovi announces new world tour
By Victor Epstein, Associated Press Writer – Thu Oct 22, 4:52 pm ET

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Rock band Bon Jovi announced plans Thursday for a new world tour that will swing by the new home of the New York Giants and Jets.

The two-year tour begins Feb. 19 in Seattle and includes a May 26 show at New Jersey's new $1.6 billion Meadowlands football stadium, which will be home to the New York Giants and Jets. It will feature 135 shows in 30 countries.

"It's a big world," lead singer Jon Bon Jovi said when asked about the length of the tour. "And we still make house calls."

Bon Jovi and lead guitarist Richie Sambora are New Jersey natives. They said being selected for the first concert at the new stadium holds special meaning for them because they've played Giants Stadium more than eight times and consider it home.

"Jon Bon Jovi is a New Jersey guy," Giants CEO John Mara said.

"He's a legend in New Jersey," Jets owner Robert "Woody" Johnson said.

Bon Jovi said going to a football game at Giants Stadium was a special event for him before the band, which formed in 1983, made it big. The Grammy winner grew up in Sayreville and is a Giants season ticketholder.

"I can't wait until there's a ballgame," Bon Jovi said.

The band announced the tour Thursday at an invitation-only performance for 5,000 fan club contest winners and construction workers in the parking lot of the new stadium.

A group of police officers watched the show from a highway overpass as the band worked through a set that included songs from its new album "The Circle" and hits like "You Give Love a Bad Name."

The band's "Lost Highway" album tour was the top grossing tour of 2008, according to Billboard Boxscore. It grossed $210.6 million and drew 2,157,675 fans.

Kim Cardino, 42, of Lindenhurst, N.Y., blew a kiss to the band's sport utility vehicle as it left the parking lot after the show.

"Just in case he's inside," Cardino said as her husband and three daughters looked on. "I love Bon Jovi. I wasn't close enough."

He must have been sick because they sounded damn good at the Verizon center. Are you telling me he sounded worse than some of Halford's recent live moments?

Maybe so... but I don't understand why you would release a recording that poor to the radio stations to play. It must be on one of their live releases. I'm pretty sure I own them all, but I don't think I've ever actually listened to any of them...

Now I know I didn't miss anything...

I don't know where you're getting your Halford news, but he sounded great both times I've seen them.

Either way, I'd still take Halford on an off-night over JBJ, hands-down...

Ok, your last line mentioned Halford, BJ, and hands. Lucky for you I'm too tired to think of something smart-ass.

I'd take Halford's vocals over Jovi's country twang any day.

ALICE COOPER and BON JOVI are among the 15 artists nominated for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2011. Other acts who were nominated are BEASTIE BOYS, CHIC, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J GEILS BAND, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis.

The inductees will be announced in December, and the 26th annual induction ceremony will be held on March 14, 2011 at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan.

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year's nominees had to release their first single no later than 1985.

Ballots will be sent to more than 500 voters, who will select the artists to be inducted at the induction ceremony, which will be televised live on Fuse.
