Are you sure they aren't doing ok on tour? They filled up the Verizon Center where we saw AC/DC when I seen them. I'm curious now....

Of course they are... I was just replying to your "name another artist with that kind of clout" comment.

I'm sure Bon Jovi Inc. is doing quite well. I just don't think they're in a league of their own, by any means.

Damn, I guess I better re-think forking out all that cash for a Yngwie meet and greet. As much as i'd love to mee him, no way should I have to pay for it! Y&T has really spoiled me. Thank god for the tiny quotient of musicians who don't have massive egos!

I see you took my argument to heart after all... :ataunt:

You should never have to pay to meet a pro musician. Even a casual fan supports these artists when they buy the albums and DVDs, go to the shows, buy the t-shirts, etc...

Besides, Yngwie is famous for being a great musician, not for his charming personality or incredible skills with a Sharpie.

I know I'm going to get slapped for that one, but what the hell. Sometimes you gotta take one for the team. :P

With people downloading the album for free, I guess they feel they need to make money somehow. Unfortunately it's only the die-hard fans and not the casual fans who end up paying for those meet and greets. If I was a musical celebrity, I would have meet and greets, but not for profit. They would only be scheduled like that for time constraints.

Agreed... except for the part about you being a musical celebrity.

Excessive gas should never be mistaken for musical genius.

Pollstar has just released their top 200 North American grossing tours list. Bon Jovi was 5th overall with 57.1 million dollars.

Well, truth be told... all i heard for years back in the day was how much of a douchebag Neal Schon was.... asshole, jerk, rude, you name it. Yet every time I met Neal he was nothing but a sweetheart and cool to hang out with. (and I'm not a hot chick so you can't say he was nice for that reason) Maybe I got lucky and caught him on good days, who knows- but firsthand impressions mean the most IMO.

Yngwie pretty much seems to keep to himself and his family life in Miami when off the road- hes not out in LA or someplace showing up on TMZ every weekend being a tool. I read an interview where he addressed his notorious "asshole"personality, and he made some vaild points about being young, naieve and cocky back then, but that h'es matured as a person.....and i'm quite sure age, a couple marriages and having a kid will absolutley do that. Sure- there are a ton of musicians who never grow up, but id be willing to bet he isn't the giant asshole everyone makes him out to be.

Hopefully he's put that entire "Unleash the fury!" persona behind him.

Yep. Weren't many big hard rock/metal acts touring last year...

Good to see them still raking it in though... anyone who beats Celine Dion is AOK with me. 8)

Some of those acts are surprising, incidentally... Journey? Phish? I didn't think bands like that could rake in that kind of cheddar anymore...

He had a terrible rep for tantrums in his younger days... but I'm sure age and a long tumble from the top of the metal world has taught him a little humility.

Last I heard, he was much more personable... but that still doesn't make him a wizard with a Sharpie. :P
