Savatage is great! I have Power of the Night on vinyl and CD. I love that album. Some of the lyrics are interesting (ex: Necrophilia) but I don't always like music for the lyrics anyway.

For example, Running Wild - Gates to Purgatory is about as satanic as I know of but I bought the album because it was recommended to me by a music store employee for the music/guitar work (not that I'm any kind of an expert but I know what I like). It's a kickass album and no, I don't worship satan but I still enjoy listening to it.

Savatage is friggin AWESOME!
I saw them at a tiny club in Houston called Cardi's way back in '84 or '85. It was the Power of the Night tour!
I was so close I could touch Criss!
PHENOMINAL!!

I love all of the Savatage, both singers, but I definitely prefer the early era with Jon on vox the most.

Sirens is my fave.
Power is next.
Hall is close behind!
Then Streets and then Fight for the Rock.
The rest fall in behind those.

SAVATAGE ROCKS!!

Those are all great albums. For me, it's a toss-up between Power of the Night and Gutter Ballet. Tracks like "She's in Love", "Unholy", "Hounds"......all balls out metal!!

I saw them open up for Megadeth and Dio. They were a very tight band in a live setting during this time period.

I have no idea what they sound like now because I havent kept up with their career.

Any of you have one of these?

When I had my CD biz on the late 90s (Acacia Music), Metal Blade sold me a case of 50. They were in a cardboard slipcase and only 500 were made. Metal Blade destroyed most of them.

Because they never actually had rights to the recording. It was either destroy them or be sued.

I remember hearing the sirens album and Metallica's ,Kill em All, both for the first time the same day, back in what 82 or 83. I remember how cool and unique they both sounded at that time. I also remember blasting the hell out of that Sirens cassette in my car on the way to watch the Oakland Raiders beat up on the Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl.
I found the Dungeons are Calling in 84 and became a SUPERFAN.
I saw them for the first time on the Power of the Night, tour on 8/21 /85 at Wolfgangs in SF, they played with Rouge Male. I loved Savatage!
I saw them every time they came through town until Chris was killed.
I always preferred them without a rhythm guitar player. I have everything up to 'Streets'.....R.I.P. Chris Oliva....

That must have been REALLY cool to have seen them during the Power of the Night days. I have all their albums, but sadly......I've never seen them in concert.
