JOHNNY SOLINGER, lead singer for SKID ROW, and Texas chart topping label Smith Entertainment, have signed a deal to release a solo album of the singers‚Äö?†??‚Äö?¢‚Ć own material that will draw more upon his Texas-born country influences like Hank Williams Sr. and Merle Haggard.

2008 sees SKID ROW lead singer Johnny Solinger pursuing something that's been running through his veins his whole life...country music. On his latest solo material he proclaims‚Äö?†??‚àö¬±..

"Aside from SKID ROW, I've been recording some country tunes as well (hell, I AM from Texas) , and while it might seem odd to have such drastic tastes in music, it seems perfectly natural to me. I‚Äö?†??‚Äö?¢‚Ćm also excited about joining a team like Smith Entertainment, who‚Äö?†??‚Äö?¢‚Ćs roster includes Texas legends Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, and has also helped lead artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green, and Kevin Fowler to national acclaim.

When the Skids aren‚Äö?†??‚Äö?¢‚Ćt recording or touring I plan to be in a honkytonk somewhere dishin‚Äö?†??‚Äö?¢‚Ć out my own brand of Texas country‚Äö?†??‚àö?ú

Teaming up with some of the greatest players Texas has to offer, guitarist David Grissom (Dixie Chicks, Storyville) bassist Tommy Shannon (Stevie Ray Vaughn Double Trouble) and many more...Johnny Solinger is sure to make a big noise in the country music scene in the years to come. Listen for the first single ‚Äö?†??¬¨¬ÆToo Well To Go To Work‚Äö?†??‚àö?ú on Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana radio early in January 2008, and look for the self titled Johnny Solinger album in stores and on i-tunes by March.

‚Äö?†??¬¨¬ÆToo Well To Go To Work‚Äö?†??‚àö?ú has also been released as a single worldwide on i-tunes by Smith Entertainment and available now.

Where's the love. The last two Skid Row albums were good. A little bit of a different direction yes, But I like Johnny. He's a nice guy and a really goofball. Not like Baz though, he's in a whole dimention of his own. But I can't honestly say I like every song from the last two albums.

We saw Skid Row with Johnny last year and it was a fun show, but I miss Baz.

is rolling my way in the next little bit. No S.B no Skid Row. I know Seb has went in a weird direction as of late. He needs to check his ego at the door and get back and tour with the band.

Yeah, they've kinda made that clear. Rachel had a vision of which way he wanted the band to go and him, Scotti, and Snake decided without question that Johnny was the man that fit the bill. I figure if the music is good I'll still listen too it. I usually don't get too wraped up in the politics of what changes a band makes. They knew what they were doing, you can tell some thought was put into this when they decided to hit the road agian without Baz. They are a little older, wiser, and veiw points have changed. I like Baz but sometimes some changes have to be made. What are they supposed to do, let the potential of more great music to be made go to waste and let rap, Hannah Montana, and Brittney Spears get one step closer to taking over because of a strained relationship between band members. Since Roxie covered the Queensryche thread, I got this one. :P

I've got to disagree with this one... Skid Row without Bach is a totally different band. Very few bands manage to change lead singers and keep the original vibe of the band. The singer's voice is usually one of the most identifiable aspects of a band's sound. In most cases, the band seems to slide right down the chute after changing singers. After all, Skid Row without Bach just doesn't sound like Skid Row...

In cases where the band remains successful, it's usually because the band has reinvented themselves (at least somewhat) and is more or less a different band with the new singer.

Cases in point: Skid Row, Motley Corabi, Quiet Riot, Van Cherone, Ratt.

Exceptions to the rule: AC-DC, Van Hagar, Genesis

I'm sure we could come up with countless examples of bands that died off with new singers...
