I don't care what anyone says:
"Slave to the Grind" is one of the greatest metal discs of all time and should be in EVERYONE'S collection before the end of the year!
THAT IS AN ORDER!

Cameron Edney of Pro Music Photography recently conducted an interview with SKID ROW guitarist Scotti Hill. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Pro Music Photography: Scotti, last time we spoke, "Revolutions per Minute" was just about to be released, now that you have had so much time to digest it, is there anything you would have changed?

Scotti Hill: I wouldn't have drunk as much while I was making it. [laughs] Part of that record was played on severe hangover. Sometimes it works; sometimes you shoot yourself in the foot! I haven't even listened back; it's been a couple of years now! Usually when we finish recording something I listen to it when it's done and for me I just put it away and then on to the next thing!

Pro Music Photography: Considering it's been almost three years now, I would imagine you are writing new material and would have the wheels in motion for the next album?

Scotti Hill: Yeah, we haven't sat down and recorded anything yet, but we have sat down and worked out some ideas and just played them on a handheld recorder. Everybody's writing and we're getting into that mind set but we're very slow, we're very lazy. Once the wheels get in motion we'll all probably fly out to Atlanta spend a week or two up there come home, go back up there do it again, we're all living in different cities, which can make it difficult at times.

Pro Music Photography: Mate I want to talk to you a little more about life on the road… going right back to the beginning can you remember the hardest time you had as an opening act?

Scotti Hill: Oh man, there were a couple of them! I remember back when we were opening for WHITE LION… eventually both bands wound up coming acquaintances and friendly but we got bumped around a little bit. Any band that gets an opening slot, especially on the bigger tours, the production people don't give a shit about how many records you've sold, they just care about getting their show onstage and on time. They like to kick around the support act, and we've been kicked around a bunch of times! It makes us stronger; it really makes us a better band. If some bands production crew is giving us a hard time, then we're just going to have to get out there and kick that bands ass! I'm a little cocky about it but I'm proud of it, it's like being in a gang!

Pro Music Photography: There's no doubt that over the years some crazy shit has happened whilst you've been on tour, the late '80s bottle incident comes to mind! What's the craziest thing that has ever happened to you on stage?

Scotti Hill: Oh dude, I've gotten into fights, I've wound up outside the building. I've thrown up onstage more than once probably, more times than I can count I think [laughs]. You go night after night and you're hitting the alcohol a little too hard sooner or later it's bound to come back to bite you and it's usually when you're up there under the hot lights! During the show all kinds of shit happens; we have little conversations and little things going on during the show that people aren't even aware of! During songs we will have a little huddle off to the side and have a giggle about something that happened or that is happening!

Pro Music Photography: Over the years you have shared the stage with many amazing bands like KISS, BON JOVI, MÖTLEY CRÜE and, of course, PANTERA, what fond memories do you have of all the craziness that was going on backstage with the PANTERA crew and jamming with Dimebag?

Scotti Hill: Looking back on it, it was amazing! We were all pretty young and I remember how beat up and just run down I felt back then being a young guy. Both bands were hitting it really hard and touring really hard. Both bands developed a really good friendship; we hung out a lot, we spent six month out on that tour together and it was really a test of what you could put your body through... And Dimebag… I could go on with stories all night but the bottom line is that he was just a really cool guy, an amazing guitar player and getting to watch him onstage and play every night before we'd play was the ultimate fire under your ass! You knew you had to go out and hit it with everything you've got or you weren't going to come close!

Pro Music Photography: I know from an early age bands such as KISS and the RAMONES played a large influence on you all, but was music always your goal growing up or did you think you would follow a different path?....

Scotti Hill: No, no, I started playing guitar when I was 13 and that's pretty much where I set my sights! One way or another I just wanted to have a guitar in my hand, weather it was playing covers down at the bar and grill or if it was coming to Australia to see you guys! I didn't want to answer to anybody and I didn't want to sit in one spot. I don't like that, man I just knew!.

Pro Music Photography: Growing up what did your parents think about the music you played?

Scotti Hill: My parents were very supportive, I didn't do very well at school and I think it was due to a lack of interest. I was into doing artsy stuff, painting, drawing and playing music. My parents helped me anyway they could, they made sure I had a guitar to play, made sure I had gas in my car to get me from here and there, they just saw something that I liked and like any good parent would do, they supported it!

Former SKID ROW/SAIGON KICK drummer Phil Varone is one of eight patients featured on the latest "Celebrity Rehab" spin-off, "Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew", which will tackle the mostly unexamined world of sex addiction. It debuts Sunday, November 1 at 10:00 p.m. on VH1.

Addictions are nothing new, and most people are aware of those involving alcohol, drugs, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia, but few know about and understand sex addiction. It afflicts roughly 3%-6% of the American population, and just like other addictions, its impact on personal lives can be devastating. The affliction can wreak havoc on the mental and physical health of those afflicted as well as destroy marriages, families, careers and even finances.

Dr. Drew and a team of the nation's foremost experts on sexual addiction will guide eight patients through an intensive state of the art program. Living together for 21 days, they'll meet with Dr. Drew in daily one-on-one and group therapy sessions in order to get to the root of their compulsive behavior.

Dr. Drew is a highly respected practicing MD, is board-certified in addiction medicine and assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at KECK USC School of Medicine, who will once again give viewers an unflinching look at exactly how the rehab process works and what it feels like for participants. Dr. Drew hopes to use his patients to humanize the process and show viewers that treatment is a viable way to break the cycle of addiction.

Beginning Monday, October 26, fans can catch a sneak peek of the season's first episode on VH1.com — one week before the on-air premiere. Subsequent episodes will be available on VH1.com the morning after they air. Additional video content from "Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew", including extras from each episode, will be available on VH1.com and on VH1 Mobile throughout the season.

"Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew" is executive-produced by John Irwin and Bruce Toms for Irwin Entertainment. Dr. Drew Pinsky and Howard Lapides are also executive producing. Jeff Olde, Jill Holmes, and Noah Pollack are executive producers for VH1.

The eight "Sex Rehab" patients are as follows:

* Jennifer Ketcham (aka Penny Flame) - Porn actress / Director / Business woman
* James "Jamie" Lovett - Surfer / Wakeboarder
* Nicole Narain - Model / Playboy Playmate
* Kari Ann Peniche - Beauty queen / Model / Fashion designer
* Kendra Jade Rossi - Ex-porn star / Music manager
* Duncan Roy - Producer / Writer / Director
* Amber Smith - Supermodel/Reality TV star/Actress
* Phil Varone - Musician / Stand-up comedian

Phil Varone is an accomplished drummer, music producer and songwriter best known for his work with the bands SAIGON KICK and SKID ROW. In 2004, Phil left SKID ROW and the music business to pursue acting and stand-up comedy. After moving to Los Angeles, he spent the first two years producing the feature-length documentary, "Waking Up Dead". Phil also lectures in colleges throughout the United States and is the creator and host of the "Sex Stand Up and Rock and Roll Show".

According to Matthew Belloni of The Hollywood Reporter, ex-SKID ROW drummer Phil Varone has filed a lawsuit against the band's guitarist David Sabo and bassist James Southworth (a.k.a. Rachel Bolan), claiming his former bandmates are talking trash about him and preventing him from using the SKID ROW name to promote himself.

In the complaint, Varone — who recently appeared on VH1's "Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew" show — alleges that Sabo and Southworth "have embarked on a crusade to spread vicious lies about Varone in an effort to destroy his professional and personal reputation" and "to prevent him from truthfully describing his career history as the drummer for SKID ROW, by contending that his use of the band name is trademark infringement." In addition, he claims Sabo and Southworth "had falsely informed people that Varone had slept with Sabo's wife, that Varone is a cocaine addict and that Varone is a liar." According to the complaint, Sabo, Southworth and their lawyer contacted night clubs and both Oprah Winfrey's and Tyra Banks' talk shows in advance of his appearance in connection with 'Sex Rehab' and successfully prevented Varone from being identified as a former drummer of SKID ROW.

"Its complete omission from a description of Varone's professional experience deprives Varone from the benefits of his experience as a professional studio and live musician and rock star who toured the world, gave countless interviews, made hundreds of appearances and amassed thousands of fans worldwide," the complaint reads.

Varone is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, as well as a declaration that his use of the SKID ROW name doesn't violate anybody's trademark.

Um.... I sense douche-baggery

SKID ROW has parted ways with drummer Dave Gara and has replaced him with Atlanta native Rob Hammersmith.

Commented SKID ROW singer Johnny Solinger: "We wish Davee all the best for the future and we are very excited to begin working with Rob." Guitarist Dave "Snake" Sabo added, "Let's put it this way: We gave him (Rob) a lot of songs to learn and not much time to learn them, but he came through like a champ."

Rob spent many years touring and recording with Atlanta-based rockers ROCKETS TO RUIN and has performed with GUNFIRE 76, the band featuring MURDERDOLLS frontman Wednesday 13.

When asked about his new gig, Hammersmith stated, "Having always been a fan, it is an honor to be asked to join the band. The band's music and history holds a special place in both my life, and the lives of so many loyal fans. To be a part of that history is the chance of a lifetime."
