I am working with Ross to try to figure out what's going on...

From what I am currently seeing, the main board sections navigate correctly and you can get to the threads... but things like "view new posts" and "view your posts" pages seem to have redirect links to some friggin' Commie site.

If you happen to get a redirect to a site with a ".ru" suffix, close the tab/window. In the meantime, I am trying to relay the info to Ross so that he can isolate the problem in the forum code.

UPDATE: It appears that there was a minor "invasion" causing all the redirects and warnings, but we shouldn't have anymore trouble with the Viagra-hawkers getting back in any time soon. Any small site is susceptible to attack from time to time, so realistically, we've been doing pretty well for all these years. Some much bigger sites than ours have come crashing down over the years, and in our case, I'm happy to report that nothing appears to be hurt but our feelings...

Ross has found and corrected the problem with the forum. Everything has been repaired and locked down, and he has even upgraded us to the latest version of the forum software, which will hopefully makes things a little more difficult the next time Vladimir's Virile Viagra Vendors try to get us to come visit their snowbound little corner of the world.

Please continue to let me know if you spot anything amiss. Since I'm not here nearly as much as I should be, I'm depending on you guys and gals to buzz my BlackBerry so that I can get the word over to Ross... After all, he's the guy that really keeps the place up and running... even if he is too good to come chat with us anymore.

Just playing, of course.

On a personal note, my apologies for not doing a better job of investigating the recent events. We had a new facility go live this past Sunday, so this week was the worst possible time for something like this to happen. I'm working 10-12 hours/day... and still trying to maintain my rehab regimen.

Anyway, hopefully things will go much more smoothly now... but don't take my word for it. Poke around and see for yourselves.

Same problems are back- i'm getting tons of pop ups from my AV about Malicious Cookie website attacks. (.ru site again) Once i've posted somewhere, I cant use the Board Index link - takes me nowhere.

The site even tries to redirect me when i'm on my iPhone as well.


I'm confident my AV sofware is doing what it needs to, but this is just too annoying when you can't even navigate around in here. Poo.

For me it just sends me to the Google home page no matter what I click on except Board Index.

I have been having pretty good luck with the site lately... I have checked in almost every day this week, and haven't seen any problems over the last few days. All the links appear to be working correctly.

If anyone is still having trouble, try clearing your browser's cache. It's not a bad idea to do this periodically anyway.

Here's the location in FireFox. Go to Tools => Options:




In Internet Explorer 9, it's a two-step process. Using the Tools icon (which looks like a little gear in the upper right-hand corner):




And then check and un-check items as you see fit. The only one you really need to check are as follows:




Once that's done, go to the little gear icon again (or just hit F12):




You'll get a frame that will pop up in the bottom 1/3 of your browser window:




Other browsers, such as Google Chrome, Opera, Safari (or whatever the hell it is that you iPeople use these days ) should have similar procedures. A quick Google search on "clear browser cache" and your browser name should yield some helpful links showing you how to take care of this. Again, it's not a bad idea to clear out the old crap your browser stores every now and then... and if your browser is capable of it, you can even turn off cache storage altogether. All that'll do is prevent your browser from storing stuff locally so that it will actually load everything each time you visit a site. It's a little safer... and shouldn't slow anything down unless you're on a really slow connection.

PS ~ You should be able to do this even on your work computer... and since you're probably not the only one using it, it would be a good idea to do this since the cache is probably jacked full and will actually slow down the browser after awhile. Besides, getting rid of all that anime (or animal) porn you look at wouldn't be a bad idea either.
