Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS have issued the following update:

"We have started writing songs for the upcoming album which will be released mid-September 2009 on Locomotive Records. The sessions so far have been just great; it's business as usual. Our goal with all our albums has always been to create world-class hard rock and the same goes for this one: when the album is recorded, pressed and released we wanna say: Fuck, we created a monster!"

This is where I was going on the Edguy thread.

Both great bands, but frankly I'm surprised a band like this gets Chris' blood pumping... but he didn't take to Edguy.

Strange... :?

On November 1, the cooperation between Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS and their management company, Intromental, will come to an end. The parties have decided to amicably go separate ways due to differences in their visions for the band's future.

Commented Intromental Promotional Director Lars Larsen: "It has been a fantastic time, from the time we signed the band based on their demos 'till we, five albums down the line, saw them headlining European tours. A time we fondly look back upon with lots of great moments and memories. However, it's time to say goodbye. Intromental Management is moving forward with other bands, and ASTRAL DOORS will now try to stand on their own feet."

Commented ASTRAL DOORS: "Our time with Intromental has been quite a journey. They've been great towards us and without them we wouldn't be where we are today. Intromental has brought us out on several tours and offered us lots of other tours that most other bands would have killed for. We have worked extremely close with Lars and Claus; it's been like a marriage, and how many marriages these days last forever?"

ASTRAL DOORS is currently writing material for a new album which will be released mid-September 2009 on Locomotive Records. The band says, "The sessions so far have been just great; it's business as usual. Our goal with all our albums has always been to create world-class hard rock and the same goes for this one: when the album is recorded, pressed and released we wanna say: Fuck, we created a monster!"

Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS have issued the following update:

"The work [on] the upcoming album continues. Over 20 songs are written and the recording session seems to never end. This time around we feel that the songs are more straight-forward and the sound a bit rougher, but with tons of catchy hooks. If you liked the first two albums, you will love this one — it will be back to the hard rock roots in the true spirit of ASTRAL DOORS!"

ASTRAL DOORS' latest album, "New Revelation", was released in September 2007 via Locomotive Music. The CD was recorded at Big Turn Studio and at The Darkside in Borlänge, Sweden and was mixed at the Abyss Studios in Sweden by Peter Tägtgren and ASTRAL DOORS.

Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS have issued the following update:

"One of Sweden's most beloved ice hockey teams, Leksands IF, celebrates its 90th anniversary this year and ASTRAL DOORS has written the official anniversary song, 'Hyllning Till Leksand'. It will be released as a single. It's a great honor for us and we hope that the fans, the players and everyone connected to the club will take the song to their hearts."

ASTRAL DOORS will perform "Hyllning Till Leksand" live for the very first time at the Leksands IF anniversary cruise on August 27.

ASTRAL DOORS has written more than 20 songs for the beand's next album. According to the group, "This time around we feel that the songs are more straight-forward and the sound a bit rougher, but with tons of catchy hooks. If you liked the first two albums, you will love this one — it will be back to the hard rock roots in the true spirit of ASTRAL DOORS!"

Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS have issued the following update:

"The upcoming ASTRAL DOORS album will be called 'Requiem Of Time' and it'll be released in Europe January 15 and in North America February 16 through the brand new German bandpool/label Metalville, created by some of the best people in the metal business.

"'Requiem Of Time' is a mixture of classic hard rock, like on the debut, 'Of The Son And The Father', and more modern metal like on the previous disc, 'New Revelation'. Call it what you want; it contains the best songs the band has ever written.

"Release date for Japan will be announced soon.

"Another headline story is that Mika Itaranta has left the band due to personal reasons. We wanna thank Mika for all the fun we've had. Cheers mate and good luck with everything.

"We also wanna introduce you to our new bass maniac, Ulf Lagerström. Ulf is a close friend to the band and was our first choice; a great bass player and a damn good songwriter. He has been in bands like LUNATIC PARADE (with Patrik [Johansson, vocals]) and BARFLY (with Johan [Lindstedt, drums] and Patrik)."

Guitarist Martin Haglund has left Swedish metallers ASTRAL DOORS. He explains in a statement, "This decision has not been easy to make, but its needed. I have reached a point where I feel I have to focus more on my kids and support them in their hobbies and interests, [and] by doing that I'm not able to give ASTRAL DOORS 100%. I don't want to be the one that's holding the band back so I let go. I will continue playing, writing and record music but on a more suitable level. I'll keep the metal flowing that's for sure.
"Being a member of ASTRAL DOORS has given me experiences and memories that I'll bring to the grave. I am truly proud of my time in ASTRAL DOORS and what we have accomplished and brought to the hard-rock scene.

"Thanks and hugs to all of you!! Now ASTRAL DOORS will reload and hit you harder then ever!!"

Adds ASTRAL DOORS singer Nils Patrik Johansson: "Martin is a great guy and we wish him all the best. He did a great job with the mixing of our previous album, that's for sure. Hope the job he did with that album will open a lot of doors for him as a producer.

"ASTRAL DOORS will not bring in a new guitar player in the band to replace Martin: Joachim Nordlund (the founder of ASTRAL DOORS, together with Johan Lindstedt and Nils Patrik Johansson) will from now on handle all guitars himself."

That's a bit unusual... They had kind of a twin guitar thing going on some songs. It'll be hard to duplicate convincingly with just one guy... at least in a live setting anyway. :?
