The US has always had a younger generation that dislikes anything their parents like. They've always wanted their own musical acts. But the situation we have today is more severe. Radio stations, MTV, record labels- they all want kids to abandon any performers every few years so they can start to milk the next latest group. Any of the talented artists who have managed to hold onto a musical career for a decade or more are considered irrelevant by anybody in business. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part people would rather invest their money in a volatile musical stock market than in musical bonds.

Well said. :B

What do people buy? I went to New York a couple of years ago and was astounded how much urban music there was all over the place - but I expect an artifact of that particular city.

Let's get this album a good chart placing :D

The situation with Lordi is even worse than it is with most other rock/metal bands, particularly of the European variety.

I don't think they've ever had a US distribution deal. I have several of their albums, but just about every single one of them has been shipped from overseas. Even some of the import retailers I order from do not seem to carry much (if any) of their stuff. It really is a shame too... As you said, they've got a lot of good music.

Most recently, I ordered the "Zombilation" CDs because I wanted to get my hands on some of the single/EP B-sides (especially Pyromite and To Hell With The Pop) ... It took FOREVER because I had to order it from a German supplier.

CDs usually take about two weeks to get to me from English suppliers (which is where I normally try to order from if a domestic supplier doesn't carry the title)... When I have to resort to suppliers in other parts of Europe (Germany, Greece, Italy, Hungary, etc.) or Japan, I know I'm going to be waiting at least 3, and often 4, weeks.

It sucks. Big-time.
