Legendary vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) has posted audio samples from his forthcoming solo album, "Beautiful Mess", on his MySpace page. The LP will be issued on September 16 via Sewtoe Music through iTunes.

In a recent interview with MelodicRock.com, Jeff stated about the album, "I have no fear of entering the world of contemporary music as I don't think it will alienate most of my fans. I think that because I know a lot of my fans, not only my own personal fans come into my music with an open mind, but I know a lot of them openly enjoy more than just the genre of hard rock music. So, therefore, I can go into something a little more contemporary. I can go into something I've been dreaming of doing for a long time I just didn't have the tools and the team to do it, so to speak. But more importantly, it's the idea of finding a new and different audience who don't know who I am."

He added, "This is an album for people who never heard of Jeff Scott Soto and for the most part, I think I've said it in a few blogs and interviews before, most of my fans will follow me in what I do. They've been pretty open to what I've done from 'Love Parade' onward, but this is a whole other chapter of what I'm about. And instead of taking just one genre of what they know me as, and another genre of what they know me as, I'm kinda putting it all into just one big stew and mixing it up this time. It's hard to really talk about a new album and categorize it or separate it from your entire career, but this really does sound and feel like a separation from everything I've already done."

Video footage of Jeff Scott Soto performing the song "Broken Man" from "Beautiful Mess" at Paladino's in Tarzana, California can be viewed below.

Legendary vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (TALISMAN, JOURNEY, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) has issued the following statement:

"As I sit here listening to the amazing song and lyrics originally sung by by the late, great Sam Cooke, how much more reflecting is this song towards the victory of our new leader, Barack Obama!

"Growing up in a Democratic family, naturally I was for Mr. Obama's thoughts and views, but this is far beyond the norm of a U.S. election for president. This is HISTORY, history I never thought I would see in my living years (coincidentally on my birthday, no less) or even in my own son's lifetime — a young man of African-American descent running the country! As much as the U.S. has declined in economic and even acceptance strength, there seems to be a relief heard around the world that indeed, a 'change is gonna come.'

"Congratulations, president-to-be Barack Obama, may God bless you and us all...you have a very tough assignment ahead, even more than the role of making history but I pray the world gives you the chance you deserve to show us you are the man for the job!"

Just thought I'd add that I went to my very first Trans Siberian Orchestra show last weekend and I had no clue Jeff Scott Soto was on the road with them....(wish I would have seen you post about that earlier, Bildo!)
I just about passed out! He was amazing!!

The whole show gave me goosebumps! I'd always heard great things about TSO shows and i'm so glad I finally went! Was an extra bonus to see JSS there.....and they all come out afterwards (if youre willing to wait an obscenely long time for them....which apparently people are as the line was looooong) and so I got to see him up close and say "hi" and get a shot on my cellphone (which unfortunately I am unable download to my computer). He was hot!

Great show, I will definitely be checking this show out every year it comes to town!

Glad you liked the show, Suzie. :tup

I am not really a fan of TSO... but I keep hearing that the stage show is awesome.
