Ki$$ definately took some mis-steps in the '80's, but let's not forget the Vinnie Vincent written albums. Creatures Of The Night, Lick It Up, and even Revenge of the '90's have some truly incredible songs written by Mr. Vincent. He came a long way from writing music for Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi. So is he hard to work with/for? V.V's Invasion had good songs as well, just a little too much guitar for my tastes. Where is Vinnie now, and what happened to Guitarmegeddon and all of the other projects he was working on? Anybody else appreciate Vinnie's songwriting over his style of playing, or do you think his shredding rules?

I think Vinnie Vincent was a better guitarist than Ace Frehley. There, Ive said it.

Actually, I even prefer Mark St. John to Ace Frehley and will post a cool video of him doing Black Diamond in a minute.

Ace looked good in the spacesuit, but he should have taken more guitar lessons because his solos were lacking. I saw them in 1996. Ace starts playing his cheesy solo with 4th of July sparklers coming out of his ass, er, umm guitar. I swear it was pathetic. No offense to the Ace fanatics out there, but he wasted his potential in so many ways. I love the early KISS material, but I dont think Ace walks on water.

I'd rather eat his pancakes than choke down an Ace Frehley solo.

Seriously, listen to Frehley's Comet. Then listen to Vinnie Vincent's Invasion. No contest.

My favorite Kiss era is pre Alive. I actually think Alive is one of the best overall 'live' albums EVER!

Of course, Eddie Kramer did ALOT of overdubs, etc

I saw them do that tour...WOW, awesome!

After Bob Ezrin, and following albums without Ace playing much, and most of the time NOT Peter...it just wasn't the same...

I did 'appreciate' Revenge, though...

Kiss

Hotter Than Hell

Dressed to Kill

Alive

MY FAVS!

I do sorta like some of the tunes on Destroyer, but it started to get all 'comic book' after this...with very spotty tunes...here and there..

..and yeah...I'm one of 'those guys' that REALLY like Ace's solo work. Of course, he didn't do much after Alive, and when I saw them live, he was so wasted, usually, that he missed shit, left and right...

Vinnie is having a life out of the spotlights. He's an awsome Guitar player.

As for Frehley's comet....I love it too!

I am a guitar fan....if you can't tell :P

Supreme Court KISSes Vincent Goodbye
by Natalie Finn
Oct 2, 2006, 6:00 PM PT

Vinnie Vincent won't be raking it in for Lick It Up.

On the first day of the U.S. Supreme Court's new term, the Big 9
declined to consider a lower court's dismissal of Vincent's lawsuit
against KISS, in which he claimed he was owed royalties for his
contributions to the 1983 album Lick It Up.

Vincent, whose real name is Vincent Cusano (Gene Simmons named him
"Vinnie Vincent"), sued the band in federal court for $6 million in
1997, with the court finding that the guitarist had been a salaried
member of the group at the time and therefore had received all the
moola he was entitled to.

The former Happy Days songwriter joined KISS in 1982 as a replacement
for founding member Ace Frehley and played on the heavily made-up
rockers' 14th album, Creatures of the Night. Vincent was reportedly
fired at the end of the Creatures tour because of personality clashes
with Simmons, but he was back on board in time for Lick It Up, an
album especially significant because it marked the end of KISS
dressing up in black-and-white face.

Vincent was given the KISS-off yet again in 1984 and went on to form
the metal band Vinnie Vincent Invasion. (He maintains he left to do
his own thing.) The musician reunited with Simmons & Co. to cowrite
three songs for KISS' 1992 album Revenge. Vincent also released a
live disc, Speedball Jamm, in 2002, in which a bunch of songs are
mashed into one 71-minute track.

In another hall of justice, the man convicted of killing Vincent's ex-
wife, AnnMarie Cusano, lost an appeal in June to have his
manslaughter conviction overturned. Gregory McArthur maintains that
two drug dealers were most likely responsible for Cusano's death in
1998. She and Vincent were briefly married in the 1980s.

Such a talented song-writer. Too bad he always commits professional suicide. He's a real kamikazi shredder!
