R.I.P. :B

What a short great moment in their history. They were coming off the dissappointment of The Elder with the smoking songs on the Killers import and the headbanging of Creatures of The Night. I really would have loved to see what would have happened if they kept the make-up and the hard edge of Creatures. Unfortunately with the whole hair metal 80's scene going on and The Elder tanking, KISS decided to start following trends again (remember disco with Dynasty and pop with Unmasked). The (anti?) gimmick of losing their make-up and then the slick sounding albums like Crazy Nights. I wonder what could have been...

I was a late bloomer to Kiss but once I started combing through their catalogue, I've always had a soft spot for Creatures of the Night...and yeah, if it had somehow been a successful album, it wouldn't have taken Kiss another ten years to come out with a record like Revenge.

Although, up here in Canada, "I Love it Loud" did make it all the way to #45 on the singles charts...just sayin'

I think Eric was a great drummer also , it was unfortunate that he played on most of their worst albums.

Didn't say I didn't like it. It just makes me wonder "what would have happened if" type stuff.

I loved their 80s stuff. New decade. New sound... and unlike the disco thing, it actually stuck.

Although I liked the disco stuff too...

Dynasty was disco. I always thought of Unmasked as pop.

And The Elder, well that was just genius.

I used to read articles about Paul Stanley shaking his money-maker at Studio 54 during that time. Go listen to Shandi and come Talk To Me... It was disco...

As for "The Elder"... even Gene and Paul are trying to figure out what the hell that was. :gig:

No worries, though... Every long-standing artist has at least one of those. I watched Ozzy's documentary "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" a few weeks ago. He went on and on about how he DESPISED "Never Say Die"...

"I... I... I... I know I wuz strung out an' all but... but... even I can' figure out wot the hell that wuz..."

Sometimes these clips don't stay uploaded long...this is very cool piece of history if you're an Eric Carr fan, not to mention an Eddie Trunk fan. Vintage Eric/Eddie from 1988...interesting newsbits concerning Dokken and Triumph, and...get this...Badlands.
