See??? You don't seem to mind discussing them much.

So how are they now that they're out of the jar? DID black give way to blue or are things improving at all?

Great review. When it came out it blew all their previous music away. It is such a powerful piece of work and will be something that future generations will have to listen to.

They're both normal color now but apathetic.

Don't you dare take this review down!! :tsk:

I like Alice In Chains, though at times I've found them a little too intensely depressing, but concluded that they are excellent musicians who didn't always match my mood.

This CD does show a lot of their true musical talent and intensity, and you described it very well. I like the trivia about them, which is something I generally look forward to in your reviews.

Great review Steve! :tup

Well, thank you... and I agree with your take. If melancholy ain't your thing, AIC will probably prove to be too intense to suit your mood. Some days, it's just what the doctor ordered for me.

However, there is a bit of optimism in some of the work... it's just beneath the surface though, so a casual listen often won't get you there.

I thought about it, but I really just think of that album as an attempt to recreate their early sound. The singer goes out of his way to sound like Staley, which makes them basically a tribute band at this point.

I guess that could be the review Bill was looking for...

Thanks, Mike. :B

I agree. This one really ran circles around their contemporaries and still stands the test of time. A must-have.
