Here's a heads-up for you all. Black Country Communion's third album is coming out in October. New KISS that month, but you already knew that.

Rush - Clockwork Angels

The bad = Wish Them Well (the high pitched backing vocals annoy me)
The average = BU2B2 , The Wreckers (oddly this is the new single)
The good = Halo Effect , Carnies
The awesome = Caravan , BU2B , The Anarcist , The Garden , Seven Cities of Gold
The Classic = Headlong Flight , Clockwork Angels

9/10

Storm Corrosion - (self titled) waaaaaay toooooo melllllllllow 6/10

The Treatment - This Might Hurt
I'm gonna say it's a cross between Bon era AC/DC and The Black Crowes . It's riffalisious.
8/10 looking foreward to seeing them with Kiss & The Crue

Yep... I'd say it's a sleeper, but that implies an under-the-radar classic.

That one really is a sleeper... as in...

Big Big Train - English Electric part1

Took a few listens to get into it, but though I don't think it's a masterpiece like most everybody, it is very good. 8.5/10

Muse - The 2nd Law

Was kinda unsure about this one as the early reviews weren't good. I think what I like about them is they remind me of Queen without really sounding that much like them. This has that early 80's Queen feel...FUNKY !! love it even Madness. 8/10

mamamama mad mad mad

and finally

Kiss - Monster

I don't like as much as Sonic Boom but I'm in the minority there it seems. Shout Mercy is the best song IMO and there are many solid tracks here as well as Tommy and Eric's . Tommy and Eric's songs are as if they were either written by/or for Ace and Peter ..which bugs me.

The downside with this album for me is Gene , other than Wall of Sound it's like he's back into that mid- 80's garbage mode again.

Or maybe I went and let my backbone slip or something.
7/10

I like Monster more than Sonic Boom. And as far as Gene goes, this is his best outing since Revenge.

Riverside - S.O.N.G.S.

AWESOME !!!! but not as proggy as A.D.H.D from 2009 , but still very good . 8.5/10

Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (and other stories)

Hated his first solo album like the second one and love this one. I think the best thing is his band is insanely good , Luminol is my early pick for song of the year...the rhythm section is off the chart 8.5/10

Spock's Beard - Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep

First they lose Neal Morse , then Nick D'Virgillio ..no problem enter drummer Jimmy Keegan and vocalist Ted Leonard and I believe they have just made the greatest SB album ever. This is the album I've been waiting 10 years for Dream Theater to make. 9/10

Well, he's got me beat in the C&C department. I haven't bought (or heard anything about) their latest dueling releases.

Ironically, I've been avoiding the TicketSlasher/Live-urbation sites for the last few months because I have been avoiding taking the two-hour road trips to see shows by myself. Well, I finally found a partner in crime to go to shows with, so I was buying up some tickets recently and noticed that C&C was headlining both of VA's big amphitheaters (Virginia Beach and Bristow). I wasn't aware they had that kind of draw... I saw them open for H&H back in '09 at Bristow, and then headlining a triple bill at the National here in Richmond (a much smaller venue) in '10. They couldn't even fill that, so I never suspected they'd try to headline at such a big venue. They must've gotten "progressively" bigger while I must've been getting "progressively" more out of touch.

I'm hoping to catch them next time they come around.

Here's my latest list.

Black Sabbath - 13 - I have the 12 song version and I like it all , Iommi is on fire ! 8/10

Deep Purple - Now What ? ! - Good cd but not great..in fact I don't think there's a great sons on here oer a bad one either. 7/10

Black Star Riders - All Hell Breaks Loose - WOW !!! I thought it was a good idea to change the name but now I'm not so sure, this sounds like classic Lizzy at it's best. 8.5/10

They were definitely good live... I saw them twice (once opening for H&H, and the other headlining at the Nat here in Richmond). Both times they kicked butt. :B

Agreed... mostly. :B

Despite TaterHead's best attempts to alienate every rock and metal fan out there, I actually thought there was some decent tunes on his release (actually both camps, really). I wasn't crazy about the re-takes either, though.

Judas Priest - Redeemer of Souls

This one has exceeded my expectations , not a bad song here for me and 3 or 4 really good ones. Rob can't belt out the high stuff anymore but he still does a nice job , and some of the guitar solo are off the charts...must be the new K.K. clone , I know I'm sounding like some disgruntled Kiss fan. :?
7.5/10

Aerosmith - Music From Another Dimension

Here we get some decent rocker (nothing classic) a few too many ballads , a couple Joe Perry lead vocal tracks (at least one too many) and a freakin' country song with Carrie Underwood., :o ..now she's pretty and all but I really don't need her on my Aerosmith albums. :x

6/10

Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspiritors - Apocalyptic Love

This album freakin' rocks an absolute classic and I'm not a GNR fan , Myles is maybe my new favorite singer and he doesn't seem to be an ass like ole what's his face. Slash is Slash great guitarist and I've never had a problem with his playing.
I found it interesting that former Union drummer Brent Fitz is in the band as well.

9/10

I have the new Yes but I'm not ready to put away the new Priest just yet, also on preorder I have new ones from Ace Frehley, Queen (Rainbow '74) and Slash w/ Myles Kennedy in the next 2 months.
